The JPA specification grew out of the work done on the EJB 3 specification and has blossomed into a technology that is capable of being used independently of EJB 3. This makes it ideal for everything from desktop applications to web applications to full-blown Java EE applications. The JPA has strong industry support and is well supported in popular frameworks like Spring.
This talk will mainly focus on the basics of the JPA and what one needs to get started, with a couple of advanced topics thrown in for good measure. To finish Mark will take a look at what might be coming in the next iteration of the JPA.
Speaker: Mark de Reeper is a Solutions Architect at Sun Microsystems and is based in Wellington. His day job involves working on Identity Management Solutions using Sun's Java Enterprise System software stack. Mark has been working with Java technologies since 1995 after being hooked by the alpha releases of the HotJava Browser and the promise of cross-platform applications.
