Meet the groovy Java Virtual Machine programmers. Topics: Groovy language, Java, AJAX, DWR, Spring, Hibernate, Maven, programming paterns, Agile, SCRUM project management, etc.. and maybe some Ruby.
Why is Groovy the best friend of Java/C# programmer?
Many leading authorities (including creators of Java) have recognized that Java/C# have some major architectural deficiencies in comparison to other languages such as Python or Ruby. The new, more dynamic and cleaner languages are proving again-and-again that they are more efficient when writing the applications and they are much easier to read and maintain. Most developers quote that they need only quarter of the time spent in Java/C# to write the same in Ruby. As the response to developers switching to Ruby on Rails, the Java Community Process came out with the new Java language -- Groovy which has all the desired features, it is much cleaner and efficient than Java, it integrates with Java within the same project seamlessly, interchanging the classes. Groovy syntax is a pleasure to work with. Groovy is the official Sun Java VM language. Finally, Groovy can also be used as a scripting language for quick system tasks, scripting and prototyping.
You can use this section as a WIKI (knowledge base) and create pages with your best Groovy code snippets. We will try to build a nice online code cookbook.
