Subject: Closures in Java - Comparing the choices

Speakers: Stephen Colebourne, Sun Java Champion

Abstract:

'Closures' are one of the hottest topics in the Java community right
now. The debate is over whether some form of closures would be a
useful and worthwhile addition to the Java programming language in
version 7.

This talk will explain what a closure is and compare the three main
proposals - BGGA, FCM and CICE. After attending you will be able to
form your own opinions on whether Java should be changed, and which
proposal is the way to go.

Who Attended

It's estimated that 13 people attended.

  • SATISH KUMAR
"I know very little bit about closures, the meeting is very good and worth to attend this meeting"

  • Sandro Mancuso
"The meeting was promoted by Skills Matter and I believe that the majority of the people there are not members of this meetup group. I was really keen to meet other members of the Java User Group but I could not identify them. There was no one there to "organise" or join the Java User Group together. There are two pubs around Skills Matter and I went to one of them but again, I could not recognise anyone. Besides that, the presentation about Java Closures was good. "

  • abdul
"I am all for Closures in Java. I would like to see that FCM improve, if possible borrowing certain concepts from BGGA."

  • Evans
"I totally enjoyed every minute of it. I thought the topic was great, the speaker knew the problem domain. And having to get first hand technical insight into what is probably going to be in the next version of the Java Programming Language, was a big plus."
